Jake Lever, artist and a member of the Christ Church congregation, has a leading hand in an annual pilgrimage to Hailes, near Winchcombe. Hailes is an ancient centre of pilgrimage, near Winchcombe.These shots were taken on the Retreat Day on Wednesday June 30th.

Prayer Visiting Special 13/6/10

Each summer, Christ Church spends a fortnight 'Prayer Visiting'. We visit from house to house, asking people if they have requests for prayer. We carry those requests to God in a special act of worship after the Prayer Visiting fortnight.

Hot Cross Buns at Christ College - 30/04/10

Christ College Chaplaincy Team gives out 600 free hot cross buns to students on the Tuesday of Holy Week. The idea was to raise the profile of Easter in the minds of these young people.

Christ Church was working to a three-year plan called 'Belonging'. The purpose of the plan, which has now come to an end, was 'to foster a strong sense of community within the Christ Church family'. As a celebration of community, lots of us made a 'wooden spoon self-portrait'. These were displayed at the back of church to welcome everyone who worshiped with us over the Christmas period. Special thanks to Jake and Gillian Lever, and to Sue Mayfield.

11/05/08 - The Visit of the Christian Motorbikers' Association

Pentecost is when Christians think about the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus as described in Acts chapter 2, and his living in regular Christians today. In his sermon the vicar commented that the motorbike is a wonderful symbol of the power of the Holy Spirit; and that a Christian without the Holy Spirit is like a biker without a bike, or a bike without petrol.

Christ Church has witnessed many sights and events in its glorious history - but it's probably fair to say that on Pentecost Sunday it was the first time a gleaming and shiny Harley Davidson motorbike had been on show on the dais. (Unless, of course, you know different!)

It was an unusual backdrop to a memorable service celebrating and focussing on the sending power of the Spirit. With a Harley Davidson at the front, it seemed appropriate for the morning to include the hymn:
